Dr. Frank Petrick is a native Houstonian. He received his D.D.S. from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 1971. After serving two years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, he returned to the University of Texas Dental Branch and completed speciality training in orthodontics and also received a Masters of Science degree. He has been in private practice since 1975. Dr. Petrick has two sons, Brent and Scott. He has resided in Ft. Bend County since 1983.
Dr. Petrick became a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1987. He was asked to display cases at the next national meeting of the American Association of Orthodontists. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and other national, state, and local dental societies. Post-graduate continuing education is an important part of his commitment to excellence. In 1987, Dr. Petrick was accepted into the Texas Orthodontic Study Group. This group has been in existence since 1945 and consists of orthodontists from six states and Canada. Orthodontists are required to present records of treated cases that meet the group’s high standards when joining and continue to present records of treated cases at the annual meetings. The group’s prestigious A.P. Westfall Award is presented to those doctors whose cases are deemed by the judges as the most outstanding. Dr. Petrick won this award in 2001 and again in 2011. He has also received their Fred F. Schudy award for clinical excellence in 2007 and 2011. Dr. Petrick has also been a member of the Bayou City Orthodontic Study Group since 1986. This group is composed of seven area orthodontists who not only help each other maintain the highest standards of contemporary orthodontics but provide support in case a member is ill or disabled.
Dr. Petrick has participated in over 500 days of continuing education. He has studied at the Foundation for Advanced Continuing Education, the American Institute for Bioprogressive Education, the Foundation for Advanced Research and Training, the L.D. Pankey Institute, the University of Vienna in Austria, and universities across the United States.
For relaxation, he enjoys exercising, sports, reading, and his two dogs.
